Tremont Rescue 702 was
established in 1977. Davis Mortuary was responsible for
ambulance service prior to that date. When more schooling
and new laws made it impossible for Davis Mortuary to continue
the service, a group of about 30 students took the EMT class to
continue providing this necessary service for the Tremont
community. A new ambulance was
purchased in 1977 and Rescue 702 started providing service for
Tremont. The squad was originally dispatched through a 7
digit number that dispatchers in town answered. These
dispatchers then set off the pagers. This first group is listed as best we know.
If you are aware of anyone else who was a member of the original
ambulance squad, please contact
us.
